Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Alex Lindstrom
Alex comes to the Mantas after coaching for 9 years as the head coach of Monticello Swim Club. Alex also has experience as a head high school boys coach in Princeton, MN, and an assistant high school girls coach in Monticello. In addition to the Mantas, Alex is the Assistant Head Coach for the Men’s and Women’s Swim Teams at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN.

Alex swam year round in both club and on his high school varsity team in Forest Lake, MN. He was All Conference, All State, and achieved All American consideration while in high school. Alex went on to swim 4 years at Gustavus Adolphus College where he was awarded all conference and named captain.

Alex’s philosophy on swimming competitively is based on technique. “The more efficient you can swim, the faster you can go.” Alex also believes swimming to be a lifelong sport for ALL abilities. “Swimming is fun. If you’re having fun, you shouldn’t ever have to stop.”


Head Age Group Coach: Robert Hastings
Robert is currently an MSU graduate student in Sports Psychology. He has been actively involved in swimming since he was four. From his first day in the pool he had a passion for the sport which to this day has not ceased.

He swam varsity for four years in high school, lettered in all four of those years, and was a top six finisher at state all four years, with two state titles. He was also captain of his team his junior and senior year. Robert went on to swim competitively at the University of South Dakota varsity team. He swam four years there and competed in all events but enjoyed mostly butterfly and backstroke. He lettered all four years and was a top eight finisher at the North Central Conference Championships.

After Robert finished swimming at USD he was a volunteer coach for USD for a semester. After graduating he was an age group coach for the Reno Aquatic Club, his former club team, for six months before starting school at MSU. Robert was born and raised in Reno, NV. He loves the sport of swimming and learned so many life lessons from swimming. He enjoys and loves coaching and seeing swimmers improve and is excited to be coaching for Mantas.


Assistant Coach: Molly Huber
Molly has been involved with swimming for about 12 years. She is a graduate of Kennedy High School in Bloomington where she swam for two years. The majority of her swimming experience was with the Barracuda Aquatics Club, now called Black Line Aquatics. Molly swam at state championships every year beginning when she was ten and in the summer of 2005, after being injured for six years, she made it to Zones. Molly swam for the MSU swim team until her injury became too limiting.

Molly has coaching experience with the Black Line Club, where she helped coach the age group and developmental teams. She is very excited to share her passion for swimming with the Mantas Swim Club.

Molly is currently an undergraduate student at Minnesota State University ­ Mankato where she is majoring in Chemistry. Her plans include attending graduate school to become a Physical Therapist.
